Regular exercise during pregnancy, with the approval of your GP, can often help to minimise the physical discomforts of pregnancy and help with the recovery after the baby is born.
However as a precaution, always check with your GP before beginning or continuing an exercise program.
There are types of exercises to avoid during pregnancy. Some may be too dangerous and some will put you under too much sress or physical discomfort.
Excercises to avoid include:
horseback riding
waterskiing
scuba diving
high altitude skiing
contact sports
any exercise that can cause a serious fall
vigorous exercise in hot, humid weather, as pregnant women are less efficient at exchanging heat
Always check with your GP before beginning or continuing an exercise program.
