Throughout your pregnancy you will be offered various scans and tests to check how your baby is developing
An ultrasound scan allows your midwife or doctor to see images from inside the womb. These may be used to :
determine the size and age of your baby
ceck the position of the placenta and baby
determine whether you are expecting twins (or more)
support other test
general wellbeing of the baby
Scans are offered at about 8-14 weeks and 18-20 weeks.

Screening test may be offered to you to check if your baby has Spina Bifida and Down's Syndrome. It is your decision if you take these tests and your
doctor or midwife will help you make the right decision.
